Poor mental health is not inevitable, and World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for us all to talk about mental health and consider how, together, we can help everyone have better mental health.

– Mental Health Foundation

World Mental Health Day takes place on October 10th every year. On this day, people from all over the globe come together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind ourselves and others that mental health is just as important as physical health.

In the rush of daily life, it’s easy to put our own needs last. Even a few intentional moments of reflection can make a world of difference. Checking in with yourself can bring clarity, calm, and the strength to navigate life’s ups and downs.

Why Self Check Ins Matter

When we pause to notice how we’re really doing, we give ourselves a chance to:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety by addressing our emotions before letting them build up
  • Improve focus and productivity by creating a mental space for yourself
  • Boost self-awareness and be able to recognize patterns in our thoughts and behaviors

Simple Ways to Check In With Yourself

Mindful Movement 🧘

Stretching, yoga, or even a short walk outside can help reduce stress and ease anxiety. Yoga classes often feature peaceful atmospheres, calming music, and breathing exercises, thus creating an environment for releasing tension and improving mental health.

Journaling ✍️

Writing down your thoughts, feelings, or even a simple list of things you’re grateful for can help you organize your mind and even lighten the mental or emotional load you’re carrying. Writing in a journal allows you to have a private space where you can explore your innermost thoughts and feelings. This exercise allows you to self-reflect and identify patterns in what may trigger your anxiety or impact your well-being in general.

Spending Time in Nature ☀️

Going outside, feeling the sun on your skin, and taking in nature’s sounds and scents can help shift your mood and perspective into something more positive. It allows you to have a mental reset and decreases feelings of anxiety and overstimulation from life’s hardships.

[Time spent outdoors] provides a combination of stimulation of different senses and a break from typical overstimulation from urban environments. Exposure to green space results in mental restoration and increased positive emotions and decreased anxiety and rumination. Improved mindfulness can result from exposure to green space as well.

Small Supportive Rituals 💧

Drinking water and taking breaks from screens can help you stay grounded throughout the day. In a day and age where screens surround us, offering us a constant stream of information, entertainment, and communication, new challenges arise, specifically in regards to mental health. We are constantly being bombarded with global news – natural disasters, economic hardships, and social unrest – that can leave us feeling heavy and overwhelmed. This makes it all the more important to engage in a digital detox every once in a while.

Natural Remedies 🌿

Many people find comfort in natural remedies that gently provide support for mental health. For example, aromatherapy. Aromatherapy uses essential oils made from plants to capture a plant’s natural fragrance. The purpose being to influence the mind, body and emotions. Our GoPatch Anxious Relief Patches also provide a natural and discreet way to soothe symptoms of irritability, anxiousness, and stress.

Reducing the Stigma

At GoPatch, we believe that conversations about mental health should feel as natural as conversations about physical health. Yet, stigma prevents many people from speaking openly about their experiences with stress, anxiety, or emotional well-being.

By encouraging self-care rituals and offering natural tools like our Anxious Relief Patches, we hope to normalize seeking mental health support as an everyday act of care. Talking about these challenges openly is how we can reduce stigma, build understanding, and remind people that they’re not alone.

Because Your Mental Health Matters

This World Mental Health Day, we encourage you to pause, take a deep breath, and take a few moments for yourself. Part of our mission for the month of October is to give those experiencing feelings of anxiousness and stress a more accessible way to find relief.

To support your wellness journey, we’re offering 50% off our Anxious Relief Patches – designed to bring you calm, naturally.

Because your mental health matters today, and everyday. 🧡
